"Kansas City Council and Mayoral Candidates Forum" at "Islamic Community Center" at Islamic Society of Greater Kansas City

Dear Candidates, Community members, Citizens and Media & Press,

"The Kansas City Council and Mayoral Candidates Forum" has been scheduled and it is an open invitation for all the At - Large Candidates including two Mayoral Candidates and two 6th District In-District Candidates. This Candidates Forum is open to all public and we will also invite the media. The Fourum is a collective and cooperative efforts of the Islamic Society of Greater Kansas City (ISGKC), the Muslims American Society (MAS) Kansas City and the Asian American Democratic Caucus of Missouri (MDPAAC).

Candidates Introduction – Each Candidates will be given 2 Minutes.


Questions and Answer – Written Questions will be asked from the floor and direct to the Candidates according to their seating. There will be total of 32 Questions and Each Candidate will be given 2 Questions in two separate terms. Candidate will have 2 Minutes to answer each Question. There will be a 30 – Sec Reminder Flag.

Open Question Period - Questions from the audience will be for a total of 25 minutes. Each question and answer should be at or under 1.5 minutes.

Timing Instructions:

There will be a 30 second warning, followed by, STOP

Missouri Democratic Party Asian American Caucus (MDPAAC) Chairman MD Alam meets with the DNC Chairman Time Kaine:

 

Missouri Democratic Party Asian American Caucus (MDPAAC) Chairman MD Alam meets with the DNC Chairman Tim Kaine on Feb 26, 2011 in the DNC Winter Meeting takes place in the Waldman Park Marriot in Washington D.C. The 2011 DNC Winter Meeting held on Feb 24, 25 & 26 of 2011. The Picture was taken on Feb 25’ 2011.

Missouri Democratic Party Asian American Caucus attended the DNC Winter Meeting of 2011. Democratic National Committee Chairman Tim Kaine spoke at the meeting as the Key note speaker. The 3 day’s DNC Winter Meeting has a significant to prepare democrats nation-wide for 2012 DNC Convention and the 2012 Presidential Election.  DNC Vice Chairman Mike Honda, Donna Brazile, and all the national committeemen and committeewomen along with the state Part Executives attended the meeting. MD Alam, Dr. Abdul Akram, Maqsood Choudhry and Salman Iqbal attended the DNC General meeting, the National Democratic Ethnic Coordinating Council (NDECC) Meeting and the Asian American Pacific Islander (AAPI) meeting.

 

The AAPI Caucus Meeting took place on Feb 24th and the NDECC Meeting took place on the Feb 25th of 2011. Dr. James Zogby chaired the NDECC Meeting and Bell Long-Hong Chaired the AAPI Caucus Meeting. MDPAAC Chairman MD Alam, MDPAAC Vice Chairman Dr Abdul Akram, MDPAAC Campaign Coordinator Maqsood Choudhry, and NDPAAC Maryland Chapter’s Coordinator Salman Iqbal attended both NDECC and AAPI Caucus Meeting and the General Meeting which took place on the Feb 26.

After attending the NDECC Meeting MD Alam and Dr Abdul Akram met with Tim Kaine and other elected official for discussing issues and most common key factors that is influential to the Asian American Communities specially to the Ethnic Communities and have a successful National Convention for National Democratic Asian American Caucus (NDPAAC) which has possible been scheduled in November of 2011.

Tim Kaine advised MD Alam and Dr. Abdul Akram to keep up the efforts to bring new voters to pool that will help Democrats to win in the 2012 Election from State of Missouri. MDPAAC Chairman MD Alam highly spoke about the USNDPAAC and its 50 states incorporation as well as the 2012 US Presidential Election and Obama's race. MD Alam believes with the voting empowerment of Asian American Caucus Missourians will have victory in 2012 Obama’s Presidential race. In the National Democratic Ethnic Coordinating Committee Meeting MD Alam spoke about some ongoing issues and some suggestions how to reach out the communities of Continent of Asian region including middle-eastern Countries. Dr. James Zogby Ethnic Coordinating Committee Chair discussed on the DNC resolution passed on implementing state party ethnic councils as well as out reaching the Ethnic Communities.  Dr. Zogby spoke about the inclusion of 5 addition states to the previous 3 states efforts of Ethnic Council Movement.

 

Dr. Abdul Akram spoke about reaching the Asian American Delegates and voters as well as. Dr. Akram highly spoke about the Un-Represented Ethnic Communities and the DNC Convention and the Delegation process.  MD Alam invites all the Asian American Communities as well as the Ethnic Communities to be actively involved in the political process and be a concerned citizen by giving back to the nation’s crisis moment. MD Alam and Dr. Abdul Akram both focused on the USNDPAAC’s National Convention and are ready to have a successful Convention. On Feb 25’ 2011 MD Alam and Dr. Abdul Akram along with Maqsood Choudhry and Salman Iqbal attended a special “White House Briefings at the White House Conference Center. On the 25th evening MD Alam and rest of the leaderships of MDPAAC met with Maryland’s Governor Martin O’Malley and discuss how to reach out the Asian American as well as all the ethnic Communities in the states of Maryland. Governor O’Malley spoke to the group and suggested MD Alam to keep up the Asian American Caucus movement in a great capacity.

Missouri Democratic Party Asian American Caucus (MDPAAC) held the 1st Annual General Assembly Meeting yesterday on April 4th of 2009. MD Alam, the founder of the MDPAAC elected as the Chairperson of Missouri Democratic Party Asian American Caucus for next four years tearm. The Party called the general assembly meeting for the 1st annual convention and for the first general Meeting

The general assembly meeting took place in Kansas City, Missouri at Loma Vista Community Center Club House. The meeting was scheduled

MDPAAC MEETINGGeneral members of Missouri Democratic Party Asian American Caucus voted to elect their new statewide leaderships for the next four years. Before the voting Dr. Abdul Akram presented a Power Point Slides about a brief overview of MDPAAC including the goals, mission statemnet and the acheivements of MDPAAC for the past year while last presidential election took place. MDPAAC regulated a sucessful general voting and elected their new leaderships.

Jason Holsman, Missouri State House of Representative - District 45, attended the 1st annual general assembly meeting of MDPAAC and delivered his speech as the keynote speaker. Jason Holsman asked all the citizens to be united under the unique values of Democratic party. Holsman welcomed MD Alam and his new statewide Board of Directors. In his speech Holsman discussed about the stimulas packet of Presidnet Obama and emphasis on some on going issues that have been in the US House floor and under the debeat between the Democrats and Republicans. Holsman geartly emphsized on Healthcare benifits, Education and Schools, Senior Citizen benifits and as well as the Homeless and Shelters issues. Holsman asked MD Alam and his Board of Directors to work closely and colloboratively with the statewide Democratic Leaderships. Mr. Holsman asked MDPAAC to support and participate senetorial campaign activities for Missouri Democtratic Senetor candidate Robin Carhanan for the upcomming election in 2010. Holsman thanked President Obama and Joe Biden and their administration for the hard work. Holsman asked MDPAAC Leaderships and all the general members to start campgain door to door for the best outcome of the election. Finally Holsman meet with MDPAAC Board of Directors and attended dinner with the MDPAAC general members.

Theresa Garza Ruiz, the Jackson County Legislator attended the meeting and presented her valuable speech in the general assembly meeting of MDPAAC. Theresa Garza Ruiz welcomed the newly elected Board of Directors of MDPAAC and asked everyone to work closely so handle political issues and activities in a effective way that will have a great impact in our political movements. Mrs. Ruiz especially thanked MD Alam for becoming the legend of the Missouri Democratic Party Asian American Caucus and assured 100% support of MDPAAC for any type of legislator issues. Mrs. Ruiz accompanied with her husband Genaro Ruiz and their daughter. Ruiz family joined the dinner with state representative Jason Holsman.

Jessica Podhola, Executive Director of the Jackson County Democratic Committee joined the 1st Annual General Assembly Meeting of MDPAAC. Jessica Podhola gave her delightedfull welcome speech and welcomed the MDPAAC Board of Directors. Ms. Jessica thaked MD Alam and explained to all general members of MDPAAC that how closely MD and her been working hard in the past. Jessica Podhola put the election motion on the floor and the motion passed and carried in all favour by the general members open votings. Jessica asked the community members to support MD Alam and the MDPAAC to have sucess in the political process. She announced and invite everone to attend the Truman Day will be sponsoring by Jackson County Democrats on May 1st and 2nd at the Westin Crown center in Downtown Kansas City, Missouri. As the Executive Director of Jackson County Democratic Committee, Jessica promised and gave assurance of every kinds of supports and colloborative works and activities of JCDC and MDPAAC. Jessica joined Holsman and Theresa for the dinner and enjoyed the food with Asian American Democratic Leaders.

Shere Alam MDPAAC Organizing Secretary is giving his Speech - 4/4/2009, Kansas City, Missouri, USAShawn Pierce, the Executive Director of MDPAAC announced MDPAAC new Board of Directors and thanked all the general members and community members for joining the meetings. Dr. Abdula Akram started the meeting as the Moderator and he hand over the meeting to Shawn Pierce after the decleration of the Election results. Dr. Abdul Akram elected as the 1st Vice Chair Person and he thanked the community members for electing him as the 1st vice chairperson. Rushdy A El-Ghussein elected as the 2nd Vice Chairperson and he asked everyone to support him and the MDPAAC. Daniel Jrulewich elected as the Treasurer and due to his health issue he was not able to attend the assembly.

Missouri Democratic Party's Asian American Caucus Chaiperson gives official "Thank You" to Shamsul Khan and many others

MD Alam, Chairperson of Missouri Democratic Party Asian American Caucus send an official reorganization and special "Thank You" note to Shamsul Kabir Khan, MDPAAC Bangladesh Representatives and his fellow team members and community members who participated, helped and supported during the 1st Annual General Assembly Meeting took place on April 4th 2009 in Kansas City, Missouri.

 

Shamsul Khan was in charge of the event management of the Caucus General Assembly Meeting including food management and hospitality management. MDPAAC is officially thanking to Shamsul Kabir Khan, Shere Alam, Sagupha Khan, Shamima Akther, Afroza Tuli, Jarnail Kandola, Rahima Begum and Abeda Begum for preparing and sponsoring food for MDPAAC 1st Annual General Assembly Meeting. MDPAAC recognized those members for dedication and service during the meetings.
